About Russell

Russell has a special interest in Running, Sports and Biomechanics and knowledge gained from 30 years of competitive middle and long distance running at State and National level. As a junior athlete Russell was first introduced to Podiatry and its benefits in treating and minimizing injuries. Russell was U20 NSW Cross Country Champion and a silver medalist at the U20 Australian Athletics Championships. In the last 30 years Russell has competed regularly at State level in Athletics, Cross Country and Road Championships.

Experience

In 2008 at the age of 38 he was the NSW Open Track and Field Championships bronze medalist in both the the 5000m and 10000m and set a Guinness World Record for 10km Pram Pushing with his 8 year old daughter. Before private practice Russell worked as a Technical Footwear Representative for New Balance Australia where he gained valuable knowledge in research and design of athletic footwear, technologies and their relationship to specific foot types and activities. His role was to educate other Podiatrists and practitioners in this knowledge.


Russell has worked very closely with athletes he has competed with and trained with, joggers, coaches, health practitioners, imaging specialists and specialist footwear stores to be able to gain extensive knowledge and also be able to provide an integrative treatment plan in managing and preventing sports injuries.


Since becoming a keen cyclist as well Russell now treats many triathletes and cyclists and has developed in interest in Cycling specific insoles, which has lead him to becoming a recommended Solestar® supplier and fitter.
